Dallas Activities and Sites

Author: Nicky Parkall

Visiting Dallas is a great way to spend your vacation or for a weekend get-away. The state of Texas is amazing in its own right but tourists have proven that Dallas is the most visited city in Texas. Dallas is situated on the Trinity River and has many creeks and small tributaries that branch off into the city. You can take a walk along the Trinity and enjoy the many trees that line the path, including oak trees, cottonwood trees, and pecan trees.

Dallas is extremely important in the financial and business area of the southwest United States. Youll find that the city is always busy with one convention or another and claims to be the busiest convention city in North America. If you are planning to stay overnight in Dallas you will have a multitude of fine hotels to choose from to fit your budget, whether you are looking for budget accommodation or want a luxury suite. If you want to be a part of the hustle and bustle of Dallas you can find a hotel in the downtown convention center area. If you want a quieter place to stay you can consider a hotel in the suburbs or out near the airport.

Dallas may be a big financial city but this doesnt mean that you wont find a great amount of culture and art here as well. There are many museums and art galleries that you can visit during your stay in Dallas. One of the more prominent museums that is a must see is the African American Museum that is located at Fair Park. A walk through this museum will keep you busy as you look at the many displays and exhibits, which feature a huge collection of African folk art and contemporary art. Youll walk away with a better understanding of African American heritage and culture.

If you've brought your children, be sure to take them to visit the Dallas Children's Museum. It will be a great hands-on experience in various real- life scenarios. They feature a farm, hospital, grocery store and firehouse. When you are through playing, you can show them some other cultural displays before you return to the city.

Of course, no trip is complete without doing some shopping. If you love clothes, you will adore the second hand designer clothes created by Armani, Donna Karan and Emanual. Sports lovers will also love Dallas. There are terrific golf courses to challenge you. Later you will dine in one of the many great Dallas restaurants.

No matter what time of the year that you visit Dallas you will find something to do and keep you busy. The interesting combination of city life and southwestern charm will keep you coming back for many more visits.
